I was just talking about cleaning pet hair a few days ago, and I’ve included the new unit from bObsweep without even covering it. I’ll do that now. The latest bObsweep Bobi is one robot vacuum with an impressive personality, shaped by awesome looks and unique features. It is endowed with abilities to sweep, mop and vacuum in one go, leaving your surfaces clean no matter how soiled they are. It takes a simple push of a button and the Bobi Pet Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop will glide across a wide variety of floor surfaces to pick up dirt, dust and all particles that are proving tough to handle.
Any good bot comes with virtual walls, and this unit makes no exception. Another great utility is the UV light. Not many robovacs come with this, but I believe it’s a must for an appliance designed to handle pets. The case is made out of a special silicon based formula, that practically begs for your touch. And its price is comforting, especially if you find a good deal such as this one. Considering the much that it is praised for, you might wonder what exactly does this robotic vacuum cleaner and mop offer.
Here is a detailed review of the appliance and why you need it:
BObsweep Bobi Pet Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop has a very powerful motor, whose sound level measures between 60 and 65 decibels, also making it one of the quietest units on the market. This is an upgraded turbo suction motor which reaches deep to collect fur from carpet fibers. Its vacuuming power is so strong that it can pick most particles from your floor, starting with pet hairs and ending with pizza crumbs. This is not surprising since the vacuum cleaner executes four different tasks in one go: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and sterilizing different surfaces.
Its initial charging time (once you have taken it out of the box) is about 5 hours. Whenever it is not in use, this appliance goes to rest in its charger base but it receives a trickle charge such that it is always full when you need it for use. During operation, the appliance can detect whether its charge has dropped and if necessary, it will get back to its base for recharging. The vacuum cleaner can therefore run continuously for about 90 minutes. If the charge happens to go below the 15% mark, however, this substantial drop requires that the machine be charged for at least four hours before it is put to use again.
Bobi Pet makes use of a 14.4V nickel-metal hydride X-Amplified battery. It takes exactly 75 minutes to hit the 15% charge level, after which the robotic vacuum cleaner goes to its charge base for recharging.
BObsweep Bobi Pet has a 30 oz dustbin, which is one of the largest bins in the robotic vacuum cleaner industry. This part was designed as to allow users for a quick empty-clean cycle. Thus, after you empty the insides, you can completely submerge it under water, and you can also reach all its corners easily.
Besides the fact that this vacuum cleaner has a three-layer filtration system which prevents the escape of particles back to the air, these are HEPA, which means they prevent the escape of allergens, microscopic dust and pollen down to 0.3 microns. Considering the fact that this vacuum cleaner absorbs even sub-micron particles, HEPA filtration is needed to protect occupants who suffer allergies in case the machine is working when you are asleep, or busy with other chores.
As recommended by the producer, the filters need to be changed once every 6 months.
The weight and dimensions
The vacuum cleaner weighs about 7 pounds, which is convenient for relocation. Its dimensions are 13.8 ×13.8×3.9 inches. With its compact design and very slim frame, bObsweep Bobi Pet can go under furniture and fit in the smallest cranny, nook or corner you may think of.
The standard Bobi comes with 12 months of warranty. The Pet version has a 2-year warranty.
Along with the robot come the following:
- the charging station & adapter
- 1 remote control
- 1 blOck (virtual wall)
- the mop attachment and 2 microfiber mopping cloths
- 1 Spare Set of HEPA Filters
- 1 Spare Mainbrush Holders
- Maintenance and syncing tools
- Some blindfold stickers
- the Owner’s Manual, the Quick Start Guide and Warranty Card.
A low-track contouring
This robotic vacuum cleaner is built with a spring-actuated surface automator, whose function is to adjust the appliance such that it matches any floor level. This ensures that there is optimal floor contact in every part of the room and the result is a uniformly cleaned floor space.
The functions and movements of this vacuum cleaner can be controlled and regulated using a remote which is supplied with the appliance. Right from cleaning modes to the cleaning speed, you can control every aspect with the help of a highly sensitive wireless remote. Because of the communication interface, those of you who are more technical and like to hack thing can try to connect to the unit via a smartphone, although the producer has yet provided such functionality.
5-in-1 cleaning technology
The machine allows 5 different functions in one move. The vacuuming function is made possible through the powerful motor, which lifts hair, dust and debris from different floor surfaces and various types of carpets.
It also executes the sweeping function, thanks to its rotating full-contact brushes and squeegee-style dust sweeper. These two work in combination to clear the floor of dust and hair particles. If you want to mop the floor on the other hand, clip a micro-fiber cloth to the machine and it will sweep while polishing at the same time.
The vacuum cleaner can also sterilize surfaces and purify air with the help of its 400 NM ultra-violet lamp. The lamp sterilizes the floor surface while HEPA filters purify the air by trapping pollen, mold and other airborne particles.
The navigation algorithm
BObsweep Bobi Pet Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop has an in-built self-navigation system which enables smooth movement around obstacles. You will therefore not be worried of issues like the robot falling off the stairs and getting damaged. In case of an edge or a set of stairs, the multiple sensors fitted on this vacuum cleaner will direct it to turn. Precisely, there are edge sensors which detect walls and drops to redirect the robot.
In its robot/pilot mode, Bobi will glide across surfaces for a thorough clean and will end up at its charge base for recharging when the battery falls below 15%.
It has a touch up mode on the other hand, which allows the robot to glide across a limited area for a swift touch-up exercise. In this mode, it will go to a standby mode after 15 minutes of operation. Last is the quick clean mode, which allows the vacuum cleaner to glide across a medium-sized area for a swift and efficient cleaning job. It will automatically go to a standby mode after 30 minutes in this mode.
This robotic vacuum cleaner has been identified as the pet hair terminator because of its ability to deal with pet hairs effectively. The setting up is a bit complex, especially for those of you not used with these kind of gadgets. Luckily, the manufacturer offers a good manual, and on their site you can find a lot of videos to get you started.
The appliance is also praised for its self-charging and self-navigation mechanisms. Unfortunately, if you don’t set up the product right, the vac will not be able reach the charging base, nor navigate flawlessly.
This is definitely not the cheapest robotic vacuum that you will find in the market today (make sure you check out this offer), but it is obviously one of the best in cleaning and sanitizing various floor surfaces. It has a fair share of special features and abilities that give value for the much that you spend. There is a lot to be improved but for its price range, I believe it is an appliance worth having in your home.
So, what do you think about this new unit? Would you buy one?
